Recent Projects
Feeder: Feeder can be regarded as royalty among the British rock scene. Since the release of their breakthrough single 'Buck Rodgers' and the accompanying album 'Echo Park' in 2001 Feeder have continued to move from strength to strength, headlining festivals and notching up several top ten albums and singles. Essential is delighted to be involved in the European release of their latest album 'Silent Cry' which is sure to replicate the success of their previous material.
Solomon Burke: The undiputed 'King Of Soul' is returning to his throne. Very few artists can claim to have such an illustrious and lengthy career as Solomon Burke. Over 40 years since releasing his first album he is proving he is still as prolific as ever with the release of his latest album 'Like A Fire'. Essential is delighted to be working with a legend such as Solomon Burke and looks forward to the release of his latest album across the UK & Europe.
The Whigs: SXSW was overflowing with talent this year. As well as Eli "Paperboy" Reed blowing away anyone who came into contact with him, one other name stood out....The Whigs. A trio bursting with talent, looks, attitude, youthful exhuberance and a certain song called 'Like A Vibration' that a Mr. Zane Lowe is currently screaming about to anyone that will listen. Big things await The Whigs if they carry on this way & Essential is very excited to be releasing their album "Mission Control" across the UK & Europe.
Eli "Paperboy" Reed & The True Loves: 2008 is going to be a big year for one Eli "Paperboy" Reed. After wowing crowds at this year's SXSW festival, being named on several 'hot tips for 2008' lists, and being caught up in a buzz so loud it can heard, he is finally releasing his debut album 'Roll With You'. Essential is honored to be releasing the debut album from such an extraordinary talent across the UK & Europe.
Joseph Arthur: There are few artists as talented as Joseph Arthur. Discovered by Peter Gabriel more than a decade ago, Joseph Arthur has become one of the most respected song writers on the planet with his tracks being remixed by the likes of Chris Martin of Coldplay, Justin Timberlake and Michael Stipe of R.E.M. Essential is more than happy to be working with such a talented artist and we will be releasing his music across the UK & Europe in the near future.
Mindless Self Indulgence: To say Mindless Self Indulgence are a phenomenon is a severe understatement. They are undoubtably the internet's favorite band (their myspace boasts over 27 million song plays and nearly 14 million profile views), and they are now beginning their own technicolour, techno based assualt on the mainstream. The first single from their latest album, 'If', 'Never Wanted To Dance' spent several weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot Singles Chart and the album itself climbed into the Top 30 of the Billboard album chart. Following a sold out tour of the UK, during which Essential organised a street team to flyer the details of the albums release at nearly every venue, Essential oversaw the European and UK release of the critically acclaimed album.
We Are The Physics: Imagine the Futureheads played a thousand times faster whilst dressed like Dwayne, the scarily quiet kid in the library and you'll probably be looking at We Are The Physics. Support slots with acts such as 30 Seconds To Mars, Art Brut and (bizzarely) Gym Class Heroes as well as picking up critical acclaim almost as fast as the tempo to the 'Sci-fi Indie Thrash' they play, We Are The Physics are sure to become a force to be reckoned with.
Black Crowes: One of the most influential and recognised rock bands in the world, the Black Crowes returned to action in 2008 with their latest album 'Warpaint'. They enlisted the help of Essential to ensure the album had a strong marketing campaign across Europe, ensuring their come back was not something quickly forgotten.
Steve Earle: California-based New West Records released Steve Earle’s album ‘Washington Square Serenade’ through Essential Music (European release date: 1st October 2007). The album is currently outselling Earle’s previous 2 releases with the help of a hugely effective marketing campaign implemented by Essential. Sales have been sustained post-release due to the ongoing campaign (finishing March 2008).
Ian Gillan & Deep Purple: within a 6-month period, Essential handled separate releases by Deep Purple (UK release on Edel Records) and Ian Gillan (European release by Immergent). Essential successfully overcame the challenges inherent in working on 2 projects featuring the same artist with both albums exceeding targets – Deep Purple’s album outsold their previous release (through a major label) by 20% and Ian Gillan’s solo album experienced a 6-fold increase in sales over his last album.
Tim Buckley DVD: Essential has had an ongoing relationship with Los Angeles-based Manifesto and identified a market opportunity for a DVD of Buckley’s work. Essential provided full service across Europe and the release reached number 10 in the UK music DVD chart.
